Crave Lip Gloss Review: Scented and Tinted Lip Gloss

Scented makeup is the latest craze. Check out the newest tinted, scented makeup which is also perfect for darker skin tones.

We all know that I am a lip gloss addict, so when it came to the new Crave Lip Gloss, you know that I was not going to miss out on this opportunity! The Crave Lip Gloss is the latest addition to the scented makeup craze.

Official details on the Crave Lip Gloss:

• Infused with moisturizing vitamin E
• Ultra-shiny
• Soft pearl finish
• Offers a kiss of buildable color

A little info on the New Crave Lip Gloss:

The lipgloss was officially released in the beginning of February 2019 but I had the chance to try them out back in January.

Originally, I purchased 7 of the 12 shades; however, I soon added two more to my lip gloss collection.

The lip glosses aren’t sticky at all and perfect for my fellow lip gloss lovers!

Definition of everyday look:

To make sure we’re on the same page, I’ll give you my definition of everyday. To me, everyday simply means that one can wear the lip gloss without makeup. You know sometimes applying any cosmetic product without a full-face or even an ounce of makeup can look a little out of place like applying red blush on a bare face. For me, everyday is simply a bare face or nearly bare face.

Swatch of the Crave Lip Gloss:

What I love about the Crave Lip Gloss:

Prior to the arrival, my favorite lip gloss was the Avon True Color Glossy Tube Lip Gloss is in Natural Nude for an everyday look.

It is still one of my favorite lip glosses; however, I love that the Crave Lip Gloss has more shades than the Glossy Tube which is only available in six shades. I also like the fact that it’s scented which can be a super fun way to draw attention to your lips by a special someone if you get what I mean 😉

Thoughts on each shade and scent:

Chocolate Brownie – I love how deep and rich the color is but with that being said, it was too dark for me. This would be awesome for someone with a more medium to darker complexion. I love the little silver specks in the gloss as well. It would be a way to jazz up an otherwise blah lip look. Though this lip gloss is too dark for me, I absolutely love it! I love it for my darker skin women and love that they thought about my beauties of darker skin tones.

Pumpkin Latte – This color reminds me of a purplish brown. When I applied, it tinted my lips immediately even with the thinnest layer. For some reason, it reminds me of a coffee drink. It doesn’t smell like straight coffee but it puts me in the mood of a warm sweater, some-type-of-coffee-drink-while-cuddled-up-on-the-couch type of day. I’m not a coffee drinker and the smell of coffee repulses me but it isn’t bad.

Cherry Creamsicle – Very unique. If you love the smell of cherries, you’ll like it. With the thinnest coat, I still had a bit of a tint (may be due to my slightly lighter complexion). I applied more and it was a light raspberry tint with golden tones.

French Toast – This was the very first shade that I tried. It is more like a deeper shade of pink. It smells more like cinnamon (I’m guessing from the french toast). The color is deeper in pigment and certainly noticeable. With the thinnest layer, it is very noticeable on me. You could wear this shade without any additional lip product and still achieve a more “made up” look. The scent is great and not one of the stronger scents.

Salted Caramel – Of the 9 lip glosses that I have, this is the strongest scent. If you love salted caramel or even Garrett’s popcorn (Chitown!), you’re going to love this. I applied this and went to breakfast. I was smelling my lips more than the breakfast! It’s one of the more translucent shades and looked more neutral on me with a hint of gold. Apply it heavier and it’s a more translucent golden tint. It would be noticeable if applied heavier but not to the point where it looks as though you’ve applied a gold-peel face mask.

Strawberry Glaze – Shockingly, this is another one of my favorites! It has a more translucent color so it’s perfect for either an everyday look or to help dazzle up your existing look. In my opinion, it’s a must-have because of its versatility. It also has a very faint scent so shouldn’t be too distracting and doesn’t really smell like strawberry to me. It smells more like pink bubble gum.

Strawberry Glaze on top of a pale nude lipstick (the lipstick almost looked like chalk on the ground):

Peach Bellini – there’s a special place in my heart for this one. Orange is my favorite color and this shade is very pigmented. With the smallest amount, you could see the orange tint on my lips. I’ve yet to try this with makeup on so right now, it is my least-used lip gloss. Hopefully, I can change that soon. I also like the smell of it. It’s a bit fruity. Doesn’t smell 100% like a real Peach Bellini but it isn’t far off (maybe this is what it would smell like without the liquor).

Citrus Sangria – This one really surprised me and is a close runner for my favorite! I love the fruity scent. I was a little nervous about the color so I applied it in a thin coat and it is SOOOOO pretty on me. It looks almost like nude lip with a little iridescent touch to spice it up just a bit but it’s not overpowering. I applied more just to see how the color would look and it is more pigmented, making the gold more noticeable. I feel this would look better for a made up look but if you’re just running to the gas station without an ounce of makeup, the best route is just a thin layer and it’s perfect for everyday.

Birthday Cake – this is the closest shade to nude and will more than likely be the replacement of the Glossy Tube in Natural Nude if they were ever to discontinue the Glossy Tube lip glosses. Birthday Cake is my absolute fave out of the 9 that I have! It’s perfect for multiple skin tones and the scent is not as strong so if you aren’t a lover of scented makeup, this should not bother you!

The shades for everyday wear:

  • Birthday Cake
  • Strawberry Glaze
  • Citrus Sangria
  • Salted Caramel
  • Pumpkin Latte
  • Chocolate Brownie

Final thoughts on the Crave Lip Gloss:

This is hands-down the best lip gloss! What I love about it:

  1. The scents smell delicious
  2. The lip glosses aren’t sticky at all
  3. You can build up for more color
  4. The affordability!

You guys should know by now, I’m a former MAC Cosmetics girl. I’d never bash the company. My all-time favorite lip gloss is the Oyster Girl! If you’re feeling generous, send it to me! I’ll rock it 😜 but right now, I’m head over hills in love with the Crave Lip Gloss. Ladies, you can still slay and not break the bank!

A little story:

One day, I went to visit my cousin. We’re six months apart and grew up as if we were twins. As I’m entering my car, I pulled out my lip gloss and applied it. After she saw how it looked, she ordered FOUR of the True Color Glossy Tube Lip Glosses in Natural Nude. Remember, we’re like twins so she was also a MAC girl and paid almost $20 for one MAC lip gloss so she figured she could get 4 for the price of one (taxes included 😄).

She was always a MAC Lipglass in Clear type of gal. She’s been buying it since we were teens! But you know me, I love to experiment 😄

Now you guys, this has been happening for probably a year and a half. Each time she’s running low, she just texts me and I get it for her. Imagine her savings: $17.50 vs $3.99… It’s a no-brainer!

Note: look at the time stamp on the messages. You can see she’s been ordering the same lip gloss for over a year now. Yes, I switched from Android to iPhone in that timeframe.

Last week, she texted saying she needed more lip gloss. Like the best pal/cousin/twin that I am, I gave her one of the Crave Birthday Cake lip glosses. Guess what? She asked for two more!

Two faves meaning the Glossy Tube lip gloss and the Crave Lip Gloss. When you’re like external twins (not to be confused with fraternal), you develop your own language LOL

So this blog wasn’t really supposed to be about someone else’s opinion but somehow we got here 🤷🏽‍♀️

You don’t have to take my word for it. Just look at the texts. The Crave Lip Gloss is one hell of a dupe for the MAC Lipglass and once you get your hands on it, you will not turn back!

Final conclusion:

Now that I’ve experienced the Crave Lip Gloss and sat down to reevaluate my lip glosses. I am even more convinced that I get the other three: Honey Tea, Cucumber Spritzer and Minted Apple. The colors are more sheer and appear to be iridescent which would be a great way to spice up an everyday look.

Hey Beauties!

I placed an order online last week and either it was a blessing in a disguise or I was still in a holiday shopping daze, but somehow I ended up with two new eye liner pencils that I can’t recall ordering.

Of course, I had to share this with SOMEBODY!

New Colorful Pencil Eye Liners:

Pencil eye liner swatch:

I feel so ashamed to say this but lately, I’ve really just been perfecting my face *** too lazy or always running late so I don’t have time for eyeshadow ***

Of course, I love colors and feel as though they are an excellent way to express yourself and even your mood.

With that being said, I decided to add a pop of color in my waterline.

Note: personally, I prefer the teal/greenish blue as it’s more colorful and really shows up well on my skin; however, the grey is perfect if you were thinking of using a black liner and don’t want it to appear too harsh.

Look at the difference it made:

pencil eye liner

Because there was SOME color near my eyes, it actually made it look as though I was wearing a subtle neutral eye when in fact, I had only applied translucent powder on my lid to help absorb the excess oil. I’ve noticed by doing this, it really helps me get a more polished look — quite professional, I may say *insert laughing emoji here *

More info on the eye liner pencils:

There are three different retractable eye liner formulas:

  • The Smoky Grey belongs to the True Color Glimmersticks Waterproof Eye Liner. The eye liners are available in four shades: Brown Chocolate (I use this to fill in my brows); Midnight Blue; Smoky Grey and Blackest Black.
  • The Teal Sparkle is from the True Color Glimmersticks Diamond Eye Liner collection. These eye liners have a sparkling finish and comes in the following shades: Twilight Sparkle; Black Ice; Smoky Diamond; Teal Sparkle; Brown Sugar and Sugar Plum.
  • Not shown in this review: True Color Glimmersticks Eye Liner (not waterproof). It is available in seven different shades: Majestic Plum; Starry Night Blue; Emerald; Blackened Green; Saturn Grey; Blackest Black and Cosmic Brown.

Verdict: now I can officially say that I have tried each formula (Original – Not Waterproof; Waterproof; and Diamonds). Each formula has “true color” in the name meaning the color you see online or in brochure is the color you get. Since switching to this new true color technology, I have not once been surprised by the color I’ve received. Also, each eye liner glides on effortlessly which is great for beginners, those of us with shaking hands and anyone who doesn’t constantly like pulling and tugging on their eyes. The color payoff is great, just look at the pigmentation. It’s freezing outside and I’m pretty sure my hands can use some TLC but the liners went on without any effort. And the price?!?!? Absolutely insane value! It’s currently on sale for $2.99 (reg. $7 — worth every penny) but usually, they have a great sale going on. Definite must-have in my book!

Listen to this blog. Press play below to learn more about how to make your eyeshadow pop.

Have you ever seen someone’s makeup online and thought “that is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I have to have that!!!” You go out and spend hundreds of dollars on different eyeshadow palettes because you want to express yourself!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being bold and fearless! As such, sometimes, we want our makeup to reflect that! Nothing is worse than having our hopes up for being bold and standing out than getting that new eyeshadow palette and realizing it was a flop!

Now you’re wondering “how do they get it to look like that”, “are they using different products”, “are they using filters”, forget it, it’s fake — let’s just throw the whole thing away.

Wait! Before you throw it away and vow to never try eyeshadow again, let’s see what we can do to fix it.

There are a number of reasons why eyeshadow colors aren’t as vibrant as we’d like. Common reasons: poor pigmentation or product development, technique, skin complexion and skin type.

One way to get the eyeshadow to pop, or even show up for that matter, is to neutralize the eyelid. Here are a few techniques that I use and would love for you to try to make your eyeshadow pop*!

* Note: in the picture below, it is about 8 p.m. so it’s dark outside, I’m sitting in the car and my eyeshadow is still showing using one of the techniques below!

7 Tips to Make Eyeshadow Pop

Think of art. Most artists begin with a blank canvas. Our eyelids are existing pieces of art. Sometimes they carry oil which causes eyeshadow to fade or crease and other times, our veins or other discolorations show through. Before you apply ANY eyeshadow, be sure to try one of the techniques below.

Remember, most masterpieces with a blank canvas 🙂

1. Use a base

Neutralize the eyelid with a white or black base. White or black are most commonly sold so easier to find but are also opposite of your skin complexion so will really stand out. I’m a half cut-crease type of girl so my personal favorite is NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk (white) or Black Bean (black). It is a pencil that can be used as an eyeliner or eyeshadow, according to the company. In this case, we’ll use it as a base 🙂 It gives the eye a very dramatic uplift.

Once your eyes are prepped, primed and brows drawn, apply the pencil from the base of the eyelid (near eyelashes) to your crease. Then softly blend out from the crease to an upward motion (towards your eyebrows). This will help diffuse the stark base and give you a little more dimension or help with getting a great half- or full cut-crease.

2. Use concealer

When most people think of concealer, they think of hiding flaws or highlighting; however, you can also use concealer to neutralize the eyelid. Some people use foundation to serve as a base but concealer has a thicker consistency, offers more coverage and easier to control.

Apply concealer, blend it out and add a thin coat of translucent powder to set it and help absorb oil (if you have only skin).

3. Use eyeshadow primer

Like concealer, eyeshadow primer is usually thicker in consistency so product sticks to it pretty easily. Not only does primer help the eyeshadow stay on but it also absorbs oil and helps to prevent creasing — great if you have oily eyelids!

TECHNIQUE – After the eyelids are prepped and primed using one of the methods above.

4. Rose Water

If you’ve never heard of Rose Water, you are in for a real treat! You can either buy it locally or make your own. It is wonderful for hydration and can even be used to prep or moisturize the skin before applying makeup. Rose water has more benefits than water when it comes to the skin.

If you make the rose water, put in a bottle so you can spritz your eyeshadow brush. The brush does NOT need to be dripping wet. You want it to feel slightly damp. Dip the brush in the eyeshadow. The moisture should help the brush pick up more pigment.

5. Setting Spray

Just like Rose Water, Setting Spray can be used. Setting spray has properties that help makeup lasts all day but also has ingredients that have more like an “adhesive” property so the pigments stick and stay put. Lightly spritz the brush with setting spray, dip in the eyeshadow or pigment and apply to the lid.

6. Right type of brush

There are many types of makeup brushes. Each brush is not created equal. Instead of using a fluffy blending brush which disperses the color, try a flat shader brush to really collect the eyeshadow and pack it onto the lid.

7. Application

Application makes the world of a difference! Many beginners apply eyeshadow in a windshield wiper motion — sweeping it across the eye lid from left to right. This is great for blending; however, the technique lessens the intensity of the eyeshadow pigment. Instead, use the flat shader brush and pat or press the eyeshadow on to the desired spot.

What’s my favorite type of method? My personal fave is concealer! The first thing I do when applying makeup is fill in my eyebrows. Once my brows are filled in, I clean them up and make them look sharper with concealer. I take the concealer down from the brow to the base of my lid, blend it out and apply a little translucent powder.

Depending on my desired look, I may combine a few of the techniques such as concealer with a white base or if an eyeshadow is really spotty, I’ll also spritz my brush and continue to build up the color! I usually do this for a more dramatic, half-cut crease.

3 Easy Steps for Beautiful Eyebrows – Updated Eyebrow Routine Using Pencil

3 Easy Steps for Beautiful Eyebrows – Updated Eyebrow Routine Using Pencil. Great eyebrow tutorial for beginners. Simple and easy. #Makeup #MakeupTutorial #Beauty #BeautyAddict #EyebrowsOnFleek

Updated Eyebrow Routine Using Pencil

Hi everyone! It’s my new eyebrow routine. Very simple and easy for anyone to follow!

Step 1: Using the Avon True Color Glimmersticks Waterproof Eye Liner outline the shape you’d like your eyebrow to be. Yes, I’m using an eye liner instead of brow definer. Originally, I ran out of the brow definer and substituted with the eye liner. I now prefer the eye liner as it’s waterproof and darker.

Eyeliner
Avon True Color Glimmersticks Waterproof Eye Liner

Step 2: Using the same eye liner pencil use soft feather strokes to fill in the outline. If you apply with a heavy hand, the color will come in darker. It’s easier to build up than it is to take off. So use light strokes and go over if you want them darker.

Step 3: Clean up or cover up any loose strands using the Extra Last Concealer for a clean, precise look.

And just like that we’re done! I use this method every time I fill my brows in and they come out beautiful! Quick and easy eyebrow tutorial for beginners!
